Configure Star TSP650 printer network settings

To set up a Star TSP650 printer for use with PosLink, follow the steps below to retrieve the current IP address, assign a new one if needed, and complete the printer configuration:


Get current IP

To get the current IP address of the printer, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Press and hold the paper feed button while turning the printer back on.

  3. Release the button once the first receipt begins printing.

  4. A second report will print with the header Network Card.

  5. The default IP should be 192.168.1.100.

  6. At the bottom of the second report, check the IP Address.

  7. If the IP address is 0.0.0.0, contact your IT team or the printer provider to assign a valid IP.


Assign a new IP address

To assign a new IP address, follow the steps below:

  1. Open an internet browser window.

  2. Type in the IP address from the printout.

  3. Click Configuration and enter the new IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Restart your printer.


Set up the printer

To complete the printer setup in PosLink, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Program Mode and select Programming/Program Options.

  2. Click Printer Network.

  3. Click New to set up a new printer, or select the relevant printer if replacing an existing one.

  4. Change the printer model.

  5. Set Comms Type to TCP/IP.

  6. Set the Type.

  7. Enter the new IP address.

  8. Click Test and then click Save.
