If your kitchen printer isn't printing orders or is experiencing issues, this can disrupt your service flow.

Follow the troubleshooting steps below to quickly identify and resolve common kitchen printer problems:

  • Check the power and connections

    • Ensure your kitchen printer is powered on and all cables are securely connected. Verify that the power cable and network/USB cable are firmly attached. Check that the power outlet is working and look for indicator lights on the printer.

  • Check the paper roll

    • Open the printer cover and confirm the paper roll is properly installed and has sufficient paper remaining. Ensure the paper isn't jammed and feeds smoothly when gently pulled. Replace the roll if it's empty or running low.

  • Clear any paper jams

    • If you see stuck paper, open the printer cover and carefully remove any jammed paper fragments. Close the cover securely until it clicks. Press the feed button to test that paper advances properly.

  • Test the printer feed

    • Press and hold the feed button on the printer for a few seconds. This should advance the paper or print a test pattern, confirming the printer's basic functionality is working.

  • Check printer assignment settings

    • Verify that your kitchen printer is correctly assigned to receive orders in your till system settings. Confirm which categories or items are set to print to this specific kitchen printer.

  • Restart the printer and system

    • Power off your kitchen printer and wait 30 seconds before turning it back on. If orders still aren't printing, restart your till system as well to re-establish the connection.

  • Send a test order

    • Process a test order that should route to the kitchen printer. Check if the order appears in your system but isn't printing, which may indicate a configuration issue rather than a hardware problem.
