Payment card not detected at the till

Where to check if non-payment cards aren’t registering at the till.

If a gift card, loyalty card, or clerk card is not registering at the till, you can check and adjust the configuration settings in EPOS Manager. These steps help ensure that card data is read and processed correctly at the till.

Follow the steps below to ensure the card reader is set up correctly:

  1. Log in to EPOS Manager.

  2. Click POS Control and select POS Control again.

  3. Click External Devices and select your location.

  4. Choose the till from the first drop-down menu.

  5. Choose Mag Stripe Reader from the second drop-down menu.

  6. Find and change the comms type to Keyboard PS\2.

  7. Click Save.

  8. For loyalty cards, ensure the Mag Card Configuration is set correctly.

    1. This includes aligning the starting and end position parameters with the barcode number.

    2. Click View Track Data and ask the customer to scan the card to confirm the position numbers.

⚠️ Important: Remember to send all changes over to the terminals using Pos Updates.
