Modifiers play a crucial role in specifying the quantity associated with a PLU and providing a clear prefix on printouts that indicate the ordered size for both staff and customers.
Modifiers have two jobs:
They define the quantity used by the PLU.
They provide a prefix on printouts, so staff and customers can see the ordered size.
To create a modifier, please log onto StockLink and follow the steps below:
Click POS Control, then select POS Control.
Click Modifiers.
Click New.
Enter the details:
Description.
Factor.
Item Prefix.
Item Suffix.
Click Save.
You need to calculate the factor of a modifier based on what you expect the standard amount to be. Getting the factors right is extremely important when using stock control, as it means the system knows the right amount to deduct from the total.
When it comes to half modifiers, a pint half is 0.5, but wine sizes are more complicated. For a wine size of 125ml, the best option is to choose a factor of 0.16666. This is because the standard sizing of a wine bottle is usually 750ML, and 125/750 = 1.66666(r).
When you make changes, you need to send them to the tills following the steps below:
Click Pos Control, then click Pos Updates.
Choose your location.
Click OK.
