New KV screen view

A new KV display that replaces scrolling tickets with a fixed, colour‑coded grid of tables, updating in real time as orders arrive, progress, or become urgent.

Managing a high-volume service across many tables using traditional KV ticket views creates real operational challenges.

Why are we doing this?

The KV Overview Screen directly addresses these challenges by:

  • Eliminating the need to scroll through individual tickets during busy service

  • Making overdue or urgent orders immediately visible without reading through tickets

  • Reducing missed or delayed courses across large table counts

  • Supporting multi-area venues with separate layouts per kitchen section

  • Minimising adjustment time for kitchen staff through a familiar, fixed layout

How it works

A system administrator sets up the screen layout in EPoS Manager:

  • deciding how many tables to show

  • where each table sits on the grid

  • what colors indicate different order states.

Once configured and pushed to the screen, kitchen staff see the new overview automatically when they start their KV terminal.

Setup

Design your table layout template

  1. In EPoS Manager, go to POS Control.

  2. Click KV Control and select KV Overview Template.

  3. Define the grid (columns and rows), set time display preference, and drag tables onto fixed grid positions.

Configure status colour rules

  1. Navigate to KV Overview statuses.

  2. Define colour rules per cooking status range.

  3. Optionally add icons and time-based delay thresholds to highlight overdue orders.

Link the template to a KV profile

  1. Open the relevant KV Profile.

  2. Set Boot Mode to KV Overview.

  3. Select your template from the KV Overview Template field.

Push updates to the terminal

  1. Go to POS Control and click POS Updates.

  2. Select the KV terminal location.

  3. Review pending changes, and click OK to send.

Verify on the KV terminal

  1. On the terminal, run Get Kitchen Video Program Updates.

  2. Confirm the correct profile, boot mode, template, and status rules are loaded, then test with a live order.
